Summer is Here, Whether it Feels Like it Or Not

Without the typical rights of passage and ways of marking time, you might be finding it harder this year to make the transition to summer. We have lacked those same marking points in our church year together too. Typically we’d move to our summer schedule, programs would pause and families would come and go as vacations happened. This weekend marks the first day of summer, though it may not feel like it.

This summer, worship will continue by video, much the same as it has for the last several months. As our lives open up a bit and you might want to be out on a Sunday morning or would rather sleep in or relax with coffee or might even be traveling, watching worship exactly at 9:30 a.m. might become tricky. Please don’t feel badly about that fact. That’s one opportunity of this time: you can worship whenever and wherever you want! For some, continuing to gather for worship on Facebook live at 9:30 a.m. is an important act of community, knowing others are watching at the same time. For about 40-50 of us, that’s true each week.

I want you to know that the more important thing is to be fully present to God when watching worship — minimal distractions and open heart. If that can’t happen at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, remember that our worship video is available on our YouTube channel by Saturday morning. (Subscribe to the channel to easily find it!) If it’s better for you, watch on Saturday evening or later on Sunday or even Monday.

The video is always available on our Facebook page anytime after 10 a.m. Sundays. If you are relaxing at the beach or out for a hike or at the park, what better places to pause, put on your headphones, pull up worship on your phone and pray in the midst of God’s glorious creation!

Of course, Virtual Coffee Hour will continue on Sundays at 10 a.m. Try to pop in for a couple of those, especially if you haven’t yet. We often laugh, sometimes cry and are always thrilled to see each other!

Yours in Christ, Rev’d Jen
